Melatonin: Implications in dentistry: A review

Melatonin, known as chemical of darkness is a hormone secreted by the pineal gland. Studies have shown that it has antioxidant, antiageing, immunomodulatory, antineoplastic properties. Because these effects, might be used therapeutically in dentistry for potentially malignant disorders, lesions mechanical, bacterial, fungal or viral origin.
